Tampa, FL – August 3, 2015: Seven Seas Water, a division of AquaVenture Holdings and a leader in the Caribbean desalination marketplace, is pleased to announce its acquisition of the recently commissioned 10,450 cubic meter per day (2.76 US million gallons per day) seawater reverse osmosis desalination facility on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
Seven Seas Water will own and operate the facility over the remaining fifteen year contract term with the Government of the British Virgin Islands.
The facility, located at Paraquita Bay, was commissioned in November 2014 and was designed to meet the demands outlined in the Government’s long-term master water plan. The plant also supplies water to a portion of the island’s population that previously had no access to piped supply.
Seven Seas Water’s acquisition of this plant expands its strong base of facilities used to provide Water-as-a-ServiceTM (WAASTM) solutions to its customers. The WAASTM model provides an all-inclusive, guaranteed and cost-effective water supply to municipal and industrial clients who require a reliable solution to their water needs. With this acquisition, Seven Seas Water will own and operate nine desalination facilities across eight Caribbean islands strengthening its position as a leading provider of desalinated water in the Caribbean.
Doug Brown, Chairman & CEO of AquaVenture Holdings commented: “As we begin operations in the British Virgin Islands, we believe that our expertise in offering Water-as-a-ServiceTM will greatly contribute towards the Government’s long-term water plans. We have had great success as the principal provider of potable water in the US Virgin Islands and St. Maarten for several years, and we are confident in our ability to provide the same level of service to our neighbors in the British Virgin Islands.”
Richard Branson, Founder of the Virgin Group added: “As a long-term investor in Seven Seas Water, I have been impressed with the Company’s ability to grow and provide world class water quality and reliable service to its customers. As a BVI resident, I believe Seven Seas ownership of this plant will be of great benefit to the local population.”
